In loving memory of Joe Tomazic, WT8P
? - April 13, 2001
Our condolence to May N8MZJ on the loss of her OM Joe WT8P in April due to bone cancer. He died Friday April 13th. Joe's death came only a few weeks after he was diagnosed. We are thankful that he did not suffer for a prolonged period of time.
The Chix came to enjoy Joe's radio pointers and many of us admired his radio room when we met at the Tomazic's home for meetings. Joe was willing to set up schedules with the YLs to help us improve our CW skills. He was very patient with the slow learners. My first CW contact on HF was with Joe in 1997. I was very nervous and I remember calling him on the phone after it was over and thanking him. I made several more CW contacts after that but haven't recently, however, I believe I will get back on CW to honor Joe.
May has been a great asset to the Ohio YL organizations. Since I've known her she has served as treasurer of the Chix and president of both the Belles and the Chix. Joe was very supportive of her efforts. We have missed May as she has taken time off from her club responsibilities to nurse Joe. We all agreed that it was the right thing for her to do even though we missed her input at our meetings.
At the last Chix YL club meeting, we decided to donate money to renew May's membership in the Chix, Buckeye Belles and YLRL so she doesn't have to worry about these minor details and can concentrate on dealing with the loss of Joe.
Our prayers are with you May.
33/76 , with love and sympathy, Nancy, kc4iyd

Hazel Cain was an extraordinary lady. She has attended every YLRL Convention and was excited about making the center pieces for the Ohio YLRL Convention in 2002. The
centerpieces were going to be dolls made to resemble the Buckeye Belle. Her daughter
informed us that she was "intent on finishing the trim on the last 2 dolls she had made
for the convention in 2002". Hazel died peacefully in her sleep.

It is with a very sad heart that I inform you that Carol Iams, W8WRJ, passed away in her sleep on August 30th due to heart failure.

In the Buckeye Belles, she was very active and had held the positions of editor and president, and in the Chix YL club she was the current secretary and past treasurer.
