The Buckeye Belles 2001 Annual Meeting

The Buckeye Belles 40th Annual meeting was held on Sunday, April 29 at the Women's City Club in Delaware, Ohio. Arrangements were made by Jean Blakesless, WD8FIC. The meeting was attended by 19 people including 13 Belle members. The morning began with pastries and coffee before the business meeting. Below are some pictures taken during the meeting and highlights from the meeting.

The Buckeye Belles Founder's Award Presentation

Each year, the Buckeye Belles presents the Founders Award to a Belle who best exemplifies what it is to be a Belle. This year, the winner of the award was Jean KB8YHN, Buckeye Belles vice president. The picture on the left shows Jean KB8YHN holding the plaque which was presented to her by Lilo KA8IWD. The winner gets to keep it for one year and then it is passed on to the winner of the following year.

We all fell in love with the warm and cozy atmosphere of the old Victorian home that houses the Delaware Women's Club and are planning to hold the annual meeting there again next year on April 23, 2002. We hope more YLs will be able to join us next year as the date will be a week earlier than this year.

It was decided to hold a fall meeting at the Findlay Hamfest on Sept. 9, like the Belles used to do instead of having an August picnic. We figured we would go with this for the next couple of years to see if we might pull in some YLs who can't attend the annual meeting and to make next year's fall meeting afeter he convention so we could discuss how things went and wrap us the loose ends.
